• Portrait of the Owl Feathers - Communication Featured

  The Portrait of the Owl is the driving focus for Hondo ISD. The five feathers integrated into the design provide the flight for our students to be successful in every moment of their lives. Those five feathers are critical thinking, work ethic, communication, literacy, and social-emotional intelligence. At Hondo ISD we believe that these components of education are foundational to the development of our students.
  
  This video on communication demonstrates how our staff and students at Hondo ISD invest in the practice necessary to support the overall educational development. We are proud to capture those amazing moments at Hondo ISD, and we know that there are many moments that aren't captured on camera but are truly reflective of how we live and breathe communication at our Hondo schools.

• 1:57 2026 School Board Appreciation Month Featured

  To recognize School Board Appreciation Month, the McDowell Middle School Tech Apps class created this video to thank our board members for their dedicated service. Following its debut at the January school board meeting, we are excited to share this tribute which showcases our students' gratitude and the collaborative efforts of our Tech Apps class and their sponsor Mr. Westly Halbadier. This video serves as a heartfelt "thank you" to the men and women who volunteer their time to lead our district. It is because of their vision and support that both our students and staff continue to excel.

  Congratulations to the 2025 Hondo ISD Teachers of the Year! They are now finalists to be named Hondo ISD Educator of the Year. The winner will be announced at the Chamber Awards Ceremony on March 1st.
