• Portrait of the Owl Feathers - Communication Featured

  The Portrait of the Owl is the driving focus for Hondo ISD. The five feathers integrated into the design provide the flight for our students to be successful in every moment of their lives. Those five feathers are critical thinking, work ethic, communication, literacy, and social-emotional intelligence. At Hondo ISD we believe that these components of education are foundational to the development of our students.
  
  This video on communication demonstrates how our staff and students at Hondo ISD invest in the practice necessary to support the overall educational development.   To recognize School Board Appreciation Month, the McDowell Middle School Tech Apps class created this video to thank our board members for their dedicated service. Following its debut at the January school board meeting, we are excited to share this tribute which showcases our students' gratitude and the collaborative efforts of our Tech Apps class and their sponsor Mr. Westly Halbadier. This video serves as a heartfelt "thank you" to the men and women who volunteer their time to lead our district. It is because of their vision and support that both our students and staff continue to excel.

  As we come to the close of the second six weeks, I can’t help but reflect on how far we’ve come since our Opening Day celebration. We began this year with a shared sense of purpose — a commitment to our students, to one another, and to the values that make Hondo ISD such a special place. This six weeks have been packed with moments of celebration, growth, and learning — and yes, a few challenges that have tested our resolve.
  
  Every time I walk through our campuses, I see the heart of this district in action. It fills me with deep hope and a renewed love For Hondo’s Honor and Glory.
  
  I can’t wait to see what awaits us as we step into the third six weeks and continue this journey together.
