A Gift That Keeps on Giving

Earlier this school year, Hondo ISD's Special Education Department received a Sharing Success Grant from Medina Electric Cooperative. The grant provided modified bikes for students in our Adaptive Learning Environment (ALE) classes, creating opportunities for movement, independence, participation, and most importantly -- joy.

Through the Believe It Foundation's Bikes in Schools program, these bikes help students participate more fully in activities alongside their peers. They represent more than just a way to ride; they create meaningful opportunities for students to experience inclusion and be part of shared school experiences.

One especially memorable moment came during the Hondo ISD Homecoming Parade, when our ALE students proudly rode their new bikes as the parade's Grand Marshals! It was a wonderful way to celebrate students and the opportunities made possible through this generous support.

The Believe It Foundation recently shared a video capturing the Homecoming Parade, including our Grand Marshals leading the way. We invite you to watch and enjoy a little Hondo Owl spirit!

We extend our sincere thanks to Medina Electric Cooperative and the Believe It Foundation for their generosity and commitment to creating opportunities for our students. Your support helps make a difference in the lives of our students and brings our vision to life: Every Student, Every Classroom, Every Day! 🦉
